Romansleigh Revel was a Roaring Success!

Another successful event was held on Sunday afternoon 4th August on the Webber's field in the heart of the village. We were blessed by good weather both on Saturday for marquees set up and then on Sunday for the community Revel itself.

Bell Ringing

This year we opened the event with a half hour pealing bells ringing out from St. Rumons Church, thanks to parishioners John Barnham, Jeff Duck and two ringers from Kings Nympton.

Family Dog Show

The main event centred around the very popular Family Dog Show. There were 10 fun classes for the dogs to enter from 'Waggiest Tail' to 'Best Sausage Catcher' with stiff competion coming from inside and outside the parish - many thanks to parishioner Angie Doe for arranging another really great event.

Other Activities

here were excellent refreshments of cream teas, home made cakes and savouries, a produce and plant stall, tombola, bricabrac, children’s crafts and games, face painting and tattoos.

We also had races and wellie throwing for all ages.

We were able to raise over £900, after expenses, which will be shared with St. Rumons Church and the Romansleigh Sports and Social Club which does such a great job running film nights every winter and lots of other social activities throughout the year.

70 Years Old & Still going Strong!

The Romansleigh Revel itself has been going for over 70 years and is always held on the first Sunday in August.

We are a very small community of just over 100 parishioners and it is thanks to our local folk who put a lot of time and effort into making it, not only possible, but a great social event that brings the outlying community together every year.

Thanks to Joan Elston for this wonderful vintage poster which shows nothing much has changed!
