FILM NIGHT - Judy
Our film for March, which will be shown on the 19th March at 7.30pm, is 'Judy'.
Winter 1968 and showbiz legend Judy Garland arrives in swinging London to perform in a sell out run at Talk of the Town. It is 30 years since she shot to global stardom inThe Wizard of Oz, but if her voice has weakened, its dramatic intensity has only grown. As she prepares for the show, she battles with management, charms musicians, and reminisces with friends and adoring fans, her wit and warmth shine through. Even her dreams of romance seem undimmed as she embarks on a courtship with Mickey Dean's, her soon to be fifth husband. And yet Judy is fragile. After working for 45 of her 47 years, she is exhausted; haunted by memories of a childhood lost to Hollywood; gripped by a desire to be back home with her kids. Will she have the strength to go on?
Starring Renee Zellwenger, Jess Buckley, Finn Wittrock and Michael Gambon. The film won numerous awards.

FILM NIGHT - The Critic

FILM NIGHT - Last Christmas
Our Christmas film 'Last Christmas', rom Director Paul Feig (Bridemaids) and Academy Award winning screenwriter Emma Thompson.
A heartfelt romantic comedy inspired by the unforgetable music of George Michael.
Emilla Clarke (Game of Thrones) stars as Kate, who works as an Elf at a year round holiday shop in Covent Garden. Kate faces an endless streak of bad luck and poor decision making until she meets up with Tom (Henry Golding of Crazy Rich Asians), a kind hearted man with a mysterious past who challenges her cynical world view. It seems like nothing can keep this mismatched couple together, but sometimes you have got to listen to your heart and you got to have faith.

FILM NIGHT - Thelma
Inspired by a real life experience of Director Josh Margolin's own grandmother, Thelma puts a clever spin on movies like Mission Impossible, shinning the spotlight on an elderly grandmother as an unlikely action hero.
With infectious humour, Margolin employs the familiar tropes of the action genre in hilarious , age appropriate ways to tackle aging with agency. In the first leading role of her 70 year career.
June Squibb portrays the strong willed Thelma with grit and determination, demonstrating that she is more than capable of taking care of business, despite what her daughter (Parker Posey), son in law Alan (Clark Gregg), or grandson Danny might believe.
